That’s right, Olympus decided to enter the world of action cameras too and I have to say that it’s only for the good. The Olympus Stylus TG – Tracker camera looks very nice.
Designwise the Olympus Stylus TG-Tracker stands out from the established standards, however its specifications are comparable to the leaders of this segment. It even overcomes them at some aspects. The camera belongs to the Tought model line which is known for its durability. It is waterproof to 30 meters of depth and should survive falls from up to 2 meters. It’s capable of operating in temperatures to -10°C and can resist a load of 100kg. All this without any case.
Olympus Stylus TG – Tracker has a tiltable 1.5-inch display and can handle 4K recording at 30 fps. There’s 60 fps available when any lower resolution gets picked. The sensor’s resolution is 8 Mpx. The angle of view is 240° and the lens speed f/2.0. When worse light conditions occur, the light of 60 lumens will come in handy (finally somebody thought of it). The camera offers a 5-axis electronical image stabilization, however at the expense of shrinkage of the angle of view.
The level of the sensor’s equipment is higher than average. Excluding GPS, a compass, barometer and an accelerometer can be reckoned with. The dimensions are 35 x 56,5 x 93,2 and it weighs 180 g.
The camera will be free to get into constumers’ hands within July, for the price of $400.
