Today, Xiaomi has introduced their new action camera Xiaomi YI 4K. While the first generation was attractive mainly for its price, this camera is more ambitious. Recently leaked comparison between YI and GoPro Hero 4 only confirmed it – Xiaomi YI 4K was a big surprise in many aspects.
Xiaomi YI 4K is equipped with the Sony IMX337 sensor and Ambarella A9SE75E chipset. This allows the camera to record in the maximum resolution of 4K at 30fps, 2,7k at 60fps, FullHD at 120fps and HD at 240fps. The lens speed is f/2.8 and the angle of view is traditionally 155°. In settings, there will also be an option to turn the fisheye effect off. The battery capacity went up to 1400 mAh which should be enough for two hours of recording in 4K. Another big surprise is a 2,19” touchscreen display with 330 ppi pixel density which is protected by Gorilla Glass. The connectivity is assured by Bluetooth 4.0 and dual WiFi (2.4 and 5 GHz).
In China, the camera will be available next month. The prices are set to 1199¥ (approx. 183$) for the camera itself. The protective case will cost 166¥ (approx. 25$). The preorder price will be a little bit higher and we’ll probably find it out over here soon.
Right after its introduction, a video stabilization comparison with GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition appeard online. The image from Xiaomi YI 4K looks much better.
