Few months ago we informed you that the processor manufacturer Qualcomm is planning to enter the drone world with their new Flight platform. The official introduction should have been held at the beginning of this year, but according to the recently released promo video, it’s going to happen at the CES 2016 fair in Las Vegas which starts in a few hours.

The heart of the platform is the well-known quad core processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 which processes and maps the surroundings by collecting data gathered from two cameras and thanks to the high performance, it can easily dodge barriers, at least in the same way as shown in the video. Furthermore, the company promises significant price drop in the range of professional drones to about a third of the current price which means that the drone could be available for as low as 300 – 400 $. Another aspect is that the battery life should be radically extended from minutes to about an hour. We’re not sure how Qualcomm wants to achieve this but this year’s CES should reveal an answer.

As soon as we know more, we’ll inform you. In the meantime, at least watch the promo video below.
